Garden updates

The nets seem to be working great. so far, no deer damage and this is something I was afraid the most. Since my last post, things grew a bit :-) The girls "visit" the crops frequently to make sure that things are growing like they are supposed to. Couple flower bulbs did not come in, which might be not that bad because I've planted a lot. Here are couple pics!

I've expended teh garden by 2 more boxes. there are 5 of them in total now.

The Garden

Since I can remember, we always had veggie and flower garden. And I always hated it. Why? Because my mom was always working in it and she would always make me weed it and help her with stuff. And now? I find myself starting my own... funny. Mine is A LOT smaller than hers (she always had some half an acre!). I promise not to make my kids do stuff there unless they want to.. and they want to! oh man. They bother more than help, but they have fun and that is all that matters. I can fix it when they play on the playground :-)) We are starting VERY SMALL because we have a HUGE deer problem in the area and I'm testing how the nets will hold up. If they do, I will buy some more and we will put up more boxes. There is room for at least 5 more. So far we've plated red cabbage, carrots, basil, leeks, cucumbers, tomatoes, beets and green beans. Still waiting on my flowers thou. I hope that they will arrive soon :-)) Here are some pics of the garden.

My new camera!

Today is my B-Day. I remember as a kid I couldn’t wait for this day. Countdown since new year. Now, it is just another day... Another year has passed... Every year R asks me what I want for my b-day and every year I tell him nothing. Not this year! This year I told him I want SLR camera and this is exactly what I got. New NIKON D3000. It's a good camera for someone like me, who doesn't know much about photography on a higher level. I think once I get comfortable with it, I might upgrade but that is waaaay down the road. Anyways, I was playing with it all day today and here are the results...

Texas

The entire family went to San Antionio, Texas. R. had his conference to attend and the rest of us never been in Texas so off we went. Before the trip I did my research and knew what landmarks I wanted to hit FOR SURE.
So we went to the Alamo...

...on 2 different days :)

.. it was beautiful day... and we went to the Botanical Gardens. The best thing about the trip for the girls was the fact, that we took the bus... and I realized that they have never rode a bus before!

The next day it was the Zoo. This is one of the things I miss about Cleveland. Charleston doesn't have one and as we visit more zoo's around the country, I come to realize that the one in Cleveland is exceptionally good! It's funny how your don't appreciate things when you can have them, but once they are missing from your life... you get my drift.

Unfortunately, we had some cold weather too. One day it even snowed! for 5 minutes :) To entertain themselves, the girls made a fort.

Every day we walked the Riverwalk. It is quite interesting area, to me it felt like a city within the city. On the street level, the city was very quiet and uninteresting, but couple steps below, on the river level... it was a different story.

Next stop- the Children's Museum. I was a little disappointed, but the kids had fun. I guess this is why it's called children's museum :)

....Karolina tried to put herself in a bubble...

with daddy's help she did it!

... then we went to the Tower of Americas... it was windy up there!

Here are couple pictures from the Riverwalk during the day...

Amelia likes Starbucks...

Howdy partner!

And to finish off the trip, we went to SeaWorld. It was the first day of the 2010 season and only 3 days after the deadly accident in Florida. We had reservations to have lunch with Shamu, but they called us and cancelled it :( it turns out that they cancelled those indefinitely. The girls still had fun and enjoyed the shows. Amelia even had her first REAL rollercoaster experience and she loved it! The walked out with little Shamus in hand and of course they slept with them and on the way home they carried them onto the planes.
